Sacraments

Baptism

Parents interested in the Sacrament of Baptism for their infant or child should call the Parish Office to make arrangements. We encourage new members to attend Mass and become active in the life of the parish. You will connect with other young families and enrich your faith by becoming involved in parish life. To learn more or to schedule a baptism, please call the parish office.

First time parents and those who have not attended a Baptism Preparation session in more than 3 years, are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Class prior to having a child baptized. This class may be completed prior to the baby's birth. Please call the Parish Office to register for the Baptism Prep Class.

Godparents need to be at least 16 years of age, confirmed and living a life of faith. A baptized non-Catholic may be chosen, in addition to the Catholic sponsor. Godparents are welcome to attend the Baptism Preparation class also.

Reconciliation

Confessions are heard on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. or by appointment. Children who have reached the age of reason (around the age of 7) are invited to experience God's love and mercy through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Sowing the Seeds Christian Formation Program offers a family based preparation for the children. Children must have at least one formal year of Christian Formation before the sacramental year of preparation. For more information, contact the Director of Christian Formation.

Eucharist

The Eucharist is celebrated during all of our Mass times. Please see our website home page and the latest parish bulletin for Mass times. Children who have reached the age of reason (around the age of 7) are invited to the "table of the Lord" through special lessons which prepare them for their First Holy Communion. The Christian Formation Program offers a family based preparation program for these children. Children must have at least one formal year of Christian Formation before their sacramental year. For more information, contact the Director of Christian Formation.

Confirmation

Youth, who have been baptized as an infant and formed in a parish catechetical program, are invited to prepare themselves for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Youth mush be at least 16 years of age and a junior in high school to enter the preparation program. Youth must also have at least one formal year of high school Christian Formation or Catholic High School before their sacramental year. For more information, please call the parish office at 886-0531.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

This formation program welcomes any adult interested in learning and becoming part of the Catholic faith. The RCIA candidates meet weekly with the RCIA Formation Team and their sponsor to share personal faith experiences and to seek answers to questions about the Catholic faith. The program culminates at the Easter Vigil, with acceptance of the RCIA candidates into the Catholic Church.

All parishioners are invited to become an RCIA Sponsor and assist a candidate on their yearlong journey of faith. Contact the Parish Office for more information.

Terry at 886-0530 or by email: thuebner@stpaulracine.org
